Resumen
FINQUELIEVICH, SUSANA. Cybercafés in Argentina: its social roll in the benefit of the access to the information society . Anuario Ininco [online]. 2005, vol.17, n.2, pp. 285-322. ISSN 0798-2992.
Do cibercafés, generally small private businesses, help to surpass the digital gap -in which we talk about the access to Internet- and to complement the actions of the governments and the associative sector in this sense? The growth of the Argentine market of Internet, in terms of connections, is much faster than the predicted one. One of the main engines of this growth was the spread of cybercafés, with fast access and of very low cost, around the country. There is a significant factor: the last users to Internet had their first contact with the cyberspace in cyber or locutorio. The cybernauts who connect themselves exclusively from these places represent 35% of the users, more than 2.6 million individuals, most of them people of average and low incomes, inland inhabitants more than of the Capital, and women, in slight majority about men: that is, more lacking or more vulnerable groups than the rest of the citizenship.
